The job

Foot-Tech Academy runs children’s football coaching in Leeds, founded by Luke Towning in 2014. Group sessions, toddler classes, girls’ football, one-to-ones, holiday camps and parties.

Their website was on WordPress and it was showing its age. It was slow, it needed constant looking after, and it had over ten years of blog posts on it, 532 of them, all bringing in visitors from Google. Changing any of those web addresses would have thrown that away.

On top of that, all their booking forms relied on a WordPress plugin to talk to Keap, their CRM. Take away WordPress and every form would have stopped working.

What I did

  • Moved all 532 blog posts, at exactly the same addresses. Nothing changed on the outside, so all the Google rankings came with them. Old category and tag pages point to the right place too.
  • Rebuilt all six forms. Group sessions, First Touch, holiday clubs, parties, one-to-ones and the free taster, all sending straight to Keap again, and each one tested before launch.
  • Rewrote the key pages. The homepage and the main service pages, written around what parents actually search for.
  • Carried over all the tracking. So they can still see which ads and pages bring in bookings.
  • Let them write their own blog posts. A simple editor, so they can keep posting without touching any code.

Where it’s at now

The new site’s live at foot-techacademy.co.uk. It’s faster, it doesn’t need looking after, and ten years of blog posts are still doing their job.

"We're already seeing a big influx in new leads and sales. We'll be working with him again and would highly recommend him."
